The Humboldt County Association of Governments HCAOG, the City of Eureka, and the California Department of Transportation, District 1 are developing a corridor plan to increase safety and non-motorized transportation on the most highly traveled corridor in the City of Eureka by providing more transportation choices for residents, commuter, and visitors to the area of the corridor, while preserving the character of the local community and creating opportunities for neighborhood enhanced projects.
The Project's final product will result in a comprehensive corridor plan that will include performance objectives for managing operations and will identify improvements that are eligible to compete for funding under California's Solutions for Congested Corridors Program, the State Highway Operation and Protection Program, as well as other applicable funding programs.
The Plan is expected to achieve a balanced set of transportation, environmental, and community access improvements within the corridor. The comprehensive multimodal corridor plan will consider system performance using the stated evaluation criteria and be prepared to quantify how transportation solutions identified in the plan will improve performance. The preferred alternative(s) will be selected according to which projects best achieve a balanced set of transportation, environmental, and community access improvements.
