Transportation

The Transportation Division is responsible for providing efficient traffic flow throughout the City. It is responsible for the tabulation and review of accident records and implementation of safety improvements to correct deficient street or operational conditions. It conducts traffic surveys involving speed zoning, stop sign and traffic signal warrants, parking, traffic volume counting, and pedestrian and school crossing investigations. It also is involved in City-wide transportation planning. New development impacts on the street system are reviewed to determine and identify needed street improvements.

The Transportation Division provides for the management, operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of City-owned traffic signal equipment. It also designs, constructs, and inspects City-financed traffic signals, street lighting, intersection modification, and traffic calming projects and is responsible for enforcement of engineering and construction standards on all privately financed signal and street light projects through plan review and construction inspection.
