Eureka’s Quality of Life Starts Here!

At the Community Services department, we work hard to make Eureka a great place to live. Everything we do aligns with our mission to provide for and enhance the quality of life for all members of our community. From the sky walk weaving through our Redwoods at the Sequoia Park Zoo, to the breathtaking views of our marina on Humboldt Bay and waterfront trail, Eureka is such a phenomenal place to play outside.

  • Our team works hard to maintain and improve our parks and various trails throughout the city.
  • Our recreation programs, events, and activities offer people of all ages fun and memorable ways to learn, get connected, and stay active.
  • We make it easy to get involved and support our community, through our volunteer program, Empower Eureka, and E.C.O. Eureka, our city’s environmental outreach and education hub.

  1. The land that Eureka rests on is known in the Wiyot language as Jaroujiji. Past actions by local, State and Federal governments removed the Wiyot and other indigenous peoples from the land and threatened to destroy their cultural practices. The City of Eureka acknowledge the Wiyot community, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates the City’s commitment to dismantle the ongoing legacies of settler colonialism.
